I tried Kate Middleton’s diet for a day – one thing was gross

One thing Kate Middleton eats every day is royal disgust.

That’s according to one hungry journalist who sampled the Princess of Wales’ typical diet for 24 hours – and liked most of what they tried, with one notable exception.

Kate is said to love preparing meals for her family and is somewhat of a chef herself, filling her daily meals with fruit and vegetables – providing a wonderful boost to her immune system after a shock early cancer diagnosis of this year.

Becky Pemberton of The Sun decided to try out the royal meal plan to see what it’s all about.

According to MailOnline, for breakfast, the Princess starts her day with a healthy green smoothie packed with kale, spirulina (a type of algae), romaine, matcha (green tea leaves), spinach, coriander leaves and blueberries.

After putting all the ingredients in a blender and pouring the cloudy results into a glass, Pemberton said the drink “looked remarkably like pond water.”

Although she said it didn’t taste as bad as it looked, it wasn’t something she’d want to have every day, and she “certainly wouldn’t describe it as delicious.”

She added a few drops of agave nectar for sweetness—which ended up enhancing the flavor—but still couldn’t claim to be a fan.

For lunch, she tried Kate’s Watermelon Salad – with avocado, cucumber, watermelon, mint leaves, vegan feta cheese, apple cider vinegar and olive oil.

Pemberton said he had “higher hopes” for this meal after the disappointing breakfast option and said the dish was indeed “so delicious”.

It was quick to make “less than 10 minutes” but the author had a feeling she would still feel hungry afterwards.

Knowing she would be looking for snacks after lunch, she tried olives and popcorn, which are said to be two of the royal family’s favorite snacks.

Pemberton made korma for dinner because Kate usually eats curries, pasta or chicken for dinner, according to the media.

She chose the dish because it is “not the best with spices either”, similar to Prince William, and said it “was a big hit”.

Dessert turned out to be Pemberton’s favorite meal of the day.

“Kate is always discreet and has always complimented the dishes very graciously,” chef Rody Warot previously told People. “For dessert, her favorite is sticky toffee pudding. It’s moist and spongy.”

Pemberton tapped into the classic—calling it a “highlight.”

She concluded that she was a “huge fan” of Kate’s typical daily menu – with the exception of the “pond water smoothie”.

“It was healthy, colorful, delicious, and I felt good after eating it all instead of bloated or sluggish,” Pemberton wrote.
